The Guild is a busy place during schooldays because of its convenient location and services. Being able to listen to the piano music palying by the random passers in different music styles and feelings really made my day, and I believe many other students too. I missed the piano becuase it's something more than piano. To the piano player, it's confidence, satisfaction from sharing music, and fulfilment from hard work. To the pedestrians, it's a relieved moment recovering from lectures to lectures, a joy that can be earned depending their feelings.
Music really speaks. Please let this piano make everyone's day!

We moved one of the pianos from near the Guild Reception, as a result of concerns that it was disruptive to University teaching that now takes place in the Gilmour room. We then had a piano available on the Guild Street, however again received feedback from students being unable to focus on their studying (in the Courtyard & Mountford Hall). We also have to be mindful of the piano’s location, as some societies host events here that require them not to be disturbed. Therefore, the piano has been moved temporarily into storage, whilst we find a more suitable location, that doesn’t disrupt teaching or studying. This may involve moving it to another floor in the Guild, although this would require professionals to move it up or down the stairs, as it doesn’t fit in the lifts. As an alternative solution, we are also in contact with the Music School, to seek assistance in sound dampening the piano, if possible. We recognise the importance of music, and hope that we can find a solution that meets the needs of everyone who uses the building.
