Welcome!
On behalf of the University of Liverpool Bar Society I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new students to the University and to welcome back returning students.
Liverpool is a remarkable city and I hope that your next year here will be amazing! I also hope that we saw many of you at the Welcome Week Fair so we could talk to you about how the Society is here to help all Law students at the University. Through our networking events, workshops and competitions we hope to provide a well rounded and entertaining calendar which offers extra-curricular activities to all legal interests.
Whilst our primary focus is to prepare and educate students for a career at the Bar we hope that we can offer plenty for every student in the Law School. This year we have many exciting plans which we hope you will enjoy. As always, we will be running the ever popular internal mooting competition and offering advice and training for every level of experience. For those who have competed before we will also be offering judging positions and training, if you are interested contact us! This year sign ups have worked differently, if you are unsure how to join the society simply register via the Liverpool Guild website. Becoming a member will allow you to take part in events and receive our emails. Only full members will be allowed to compete in competitions and receive free or discounted tickets to events so do bear this in mind!
Finally, the Society will be having our first meet and greet event on Thursday 4th October at 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm in the Flexible Seminar Room 2 in the new Lecture Theatre Hub, 502. This is open to all students and will involve a short presentation on the Society, a Q&A with Committee Members and an opportunity for members to have an input on how the Society is run, a new addition for this year!. As it is in the new building there is no food or drinks permitted, however, afterwards the committee will retire to the Sphinx next door and members are welcome to join us. We hope to see you there as this will help us to provide the best experience possible!
