Bandsoc is pleased to announce that Joe Abraham has won Battle of the Acoustics 2018!

Our first heat, held at 92 Degrees Hardman Street was a quiet affair, with only Lloyd Rock and Alasdair Campbell singing their very lovely songs to us. As there were only two people able to compete, we elected to send them both through to the final.

The second heat, located in the slightly different atmosphere of 92 Degrees Vine Street saw a much fiercer competition between the bluesly vibes of Connor McDermott, the more prog-rock tunes of Ryan Jackson and the folksy songs of Niamh Milum. A very close vote saw Ryan Jackson emerge victorious.

We returned to the Hardman Street 92 Degrees for our third and final heat, which saw a variety of acts, as Joe Abraham, Jovi Jazz, Matt Birks, and George Wilson took to the stage. After a wonderful night of chilled tunes, Joe Abraham proceeded to the final.

For the final, we took over the stage of Jacaranda Phase One, where our panel of industry judges joined us. After hugely impressive sets from all performers, and an incredible guest performance from 2017 winner Louis de Roo, when the votes were counted, we had yet another narrow victory for homegrown songster Joe Abraham! We at Bandsoc had a wonderful time at this chilled acoustic competition, and would like to thank the teams at 92 Degrees and Phase One, as well as all our wonderful performers!
