We would like your views on who we should rename one of our Guild rooms after.
The top floor of our building gives a home to what is currently called the Aung San Suu Kyi room, a small but perfectly formed space for more intimate meetings.
Following a student’s Change It suggestion to rename the room - due to Suu Kyi’s controversial actions – we are now opening the floor to all students to submit suggestions on who this room should be named after instead.
We are looking for someone who has had led real change, and made a meaningful impact on the world around them whether it be at the University, within the city, or further afield. We’re particularly keen to receive suggestions for people who are from underrepresented groups, or who have fought adversity, and for human rights and equality. Ideally, the nominees will have a reputation for bringing people together and reflect the values of the Guild.
Please put forward someone who you think we should honour by naming a room after them. Suggestions will be open until Friday 28th April, and then your Student Officer team will shortlist the options.
All students will then be invited to vote online for their preferred person from the shortlisted entries from Monday 15 – Friday 19 May.
We give a home to many rooms which you use for studying, and as part of society activities. You can find out more about them here. For room bookings, please contact reception on 0151 794 6868.
