Proud to be celebrating Interfaith Week

In this day and age, many question the need for faith or organised religion in the world.

There has been a lot of negative press on activities committed in the name of God or by those who say they are doing something in the name of God.  This negativity has led to many misconceptions about various faiths which has led to hate, fear and avoidance. However, here at the Guild we are proud of our faith societies which are led by students. They provide a home away from home, a place to share beliefs and volunteer.

We want to challenge the misconceptions of faith that have become common place, so we are teaming up with our celebrating faith societies to bring you Interfaith Week in conjunction with National Interfaith Week from the 14th to the 18th of November. We believe that by providing information and sharing culture, we can eliminate the common misconceptions or misunderstandings we have about faith.

Some of the activities we have in store include a spot of volunteering to help rejuvenate the green spaces on our roof garden and Guild walk, a ‘Life of Pi’ film screening and discussion, and my personal favourite -  a Faith Forum answering questions about faith, spirituality and religion.

By getting involved in one or all of these events,  you can take the opportunity to get to know all the events that our faith societies hold throughout the year and see if any tickle your fancy.

So come along and get involved with Interfaith Week. I hope to see you all there.
