Want a good way to boost your career opportunities? Follow in Sophie’s footsteps and volunteer with Nightline, a confidential night time phone service run by students.
Since its launch in February 2016, Nightline has helped hundreds of students with issues which are troubling them – from being stressed about exams to signposting University support services - and after relishing the opportunity to be involved herself, Sophie is now calling on others to do the same.
Speaking about her time volunteering for the service, Sophie said: “Nightline has helped me in so many ways. Not only did it give me a feeling of purpose, but it helped me to grow in confidence and gain skills in active listening and communication.
“Volunteering was of particular benefit to me as I work mental health, but many of the skills you learn are completely transferrable and so useful for everyone when it comes to giving examples on CVs and application forms. I can’t recommend the opportunity enough.”
If you’d like to volunteer with Nightline like Sophie, complete our application form and return to Melissa Reilly, Advice Manager, by 9am on Monday 2nd October 2017. If your application is successful, you will be invited to an interview with Guild staff on Wednesday 4th or Thursday 5th October.
