Liverpool Pride Festival returns on the 29th July for two days of celebrating International Love and shining a light onto diversity.

In its eighth consecutive year the festival promises an exciting star-studded line-up setting the city alight with a colourful celebration of all things LGBT+, highlighting the charities core value; free, inclusive, visible and all about Liverpool. Running in connection with the city’s wider 50 Summers of Love Festival, celebrating 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality, this year’s Pride festival will be themed ‘International Love’. The festival, and the march, will honour all that has come before and all that is yet to be achieved globally, Liverpool will be standing with others around the world, raising flags in support of change and rainbows for those who aim to help with.

The two day free spectacular officially begins on Saturday 28th July at 12pm, with the Liverpool Pride March. The march, which is open to everyone, will leave from St George’s Plateau making its way through the city before returning to Lime Street. Special guests include Matt Rood, Mr Gay England and Ben Brown, Mr Gay Wales.

The day will then continue with live music spread across three stages.

The Barclays Main Stage will see Atomic Kitten brining the 00’s back to their hometown, the ‘First Lady of House Music’ Kym Mazelle, 90’s dance sensation Livin’ Joy and Celebrity Big Brother Star Austin Armacost.

Manchester Airport’s The World on One Stage will showcase international music and culture including Batala Mersey, Pagoda Arts Orchester, Louis Jay and Africa Oyé.

If that wasn’t enough there will also be a change to win a holiday for two to San Francisco courtesy of Manchester Airport (raffle tickets can be purchased from the Pride Website)

Sunday 30th July is a day dedicated to fun for all ages, ‘We are Family’ returns with entertainment and activities taking place outside St George’s Hall. The programme will include performances from Liverpool singer and X Factor runner-up Marcus Collins and BBC’s Let it Shine winners 5 to 5.

Aside from the traditional celebrations Liverpool will also be lit up in rainbow colours for the Come Out of the Shadows campaign. The campaign, which will see iconic building across Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens and Crosby illuminate, aims to shine a light on diversity and raise awareness of LGBT hate crimes.
